There is a Ukrainian citizen among the crew members of cruise ship "Costa Allegra", which is drifting in the Indian Ocean without power, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We've got information from Ukraine's embassy in Italy about a Ukrainian crew member on the ship," the official said.

Dykusarov also informed that according to the information of the cruise ship-owner, no one was injured, and the blaze that broke out in the engine room in the ship's aft was quickly extinguished.

The Costa Allegra lost power Monday after a fire in its generator room only six weeks after one of its sister ships, the Costa Concordia, hit a reef and capsized off Italy. The ship, which became adrift more than 200 miles from the Seychelles island nation off the eastern coast of Africa, is being towed by the large French ocean fishing vessel Trevignon in the direction of Mahé island.

The Costa Allegra has 636 passengers and 413 crew members on board, mainly citizens of Italy, France and Austria.
