Association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union may be adopted in two years, head of the policy department of EU representative office in Ukraine Hannes Schreiber told ForUm in the course of Euro-Atlantic forum "Ukraine and the EU on the eve of new Association agreement."

According to the official, this is a standard term, registered in cases of similar agreements with other countries. At the same time Schreiber noted that complete implementation of the agreement at all levels and with all details takes longer period: minimum 10 years. "European practice shows that similar agreements can be implemented not in full for years due to drastic changes in countries of consideration. National legislation of such countries, including Ukraine, must adapt not only to current European norms, but to the future ones as well," the official said.

As a reminder, on December 19, 2011 during Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv the sides failed to initial the Association agreement. President Viktor Yanukovych believes the agreement will be signed this year.
