Ukraine is holding talks with EU countries on sugar export, Agrarian Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk told a briefing, ForUm's correspondent reports.

According to him, this year Ukraine has rich harvest of sugar beets, more than 20 million tons. Prysiazhniuk also reminded that Russia has not agreed yet the question on sugar export.

"Today we have a demand from the European Union. It will grant Ukraine with quotas for sugar export for the next year," the Minister informed, though he did not specify the volume of possible quotas.

As reported, according to the free trade area agreement with CIS, the majority of CIS countries - Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan - set export duties for import of white sugar from Ukraine - 340 USD per a ton. Armenia, Kyrgyz and Tajikistan did not give any quotas.
