At the invitation of the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine Mykola Zlochevsky, the Winner of the Nobel Prize in 2007, an American environmental scientist Woodrow Clark agreed to join the group of experts who would defend Ukraine's interests at a meeting of the Compliance Committee of the Kyoto Protocol to the Convention on Climate Change. The meeting will be held October 11-12, 2011 in Bonn (Germany).

The Compliance Committee of the Kyoto Protocol will consider the Ukraine's report on conduct of the Cadastre of greenhouse gas emissions in 2008-2009. According to the preliminary decision of the Committee, the Cadastre "was not sufficiently transparent, consistent, comparative, complete and accurate."

"We have already prepared the report on compliance with the Kyoto Protocol in 2010, we are assured of it. But we should rectify the errors admitted by last Government in 2008-2009," the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Mykola Zlochevsky noted. "I hope we can manage it, and our position will be accepted with understanding by the Compliance Committee of the Kyoto Protocol. Support from such authoritative scientist-ecologist as Woodrow Clark gives us confidence that we are on the right way in implementing of the Kyoto Protocol in Ukraine."
