President Viktor Yanukovych believes that administrative reform in
our country is being carried out successfully, he told journalists in
Strasbourg. Viktor Yanukovych expressed confidence that Ukraine
has managed to overcome the resistance of bureaucrats to conducting the
reform. The President reiterated that its ultimate goal is to
significant increase in the efficiency of governance and reduce
corruption in government bodies at all levels.
He recalled
that the appropriate legislation has already been approved in the
framework the reform, but it certainly can be improved further.
Ministries and departments’ functions were adjusted to eliminate their overlapping, and their staff was reduced. "A number of powers have been delegated to the regions. Although this work is not designed to get short-term effects, we can do it and get positive results from it soon," he said.
