Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko is confident the European Parliament’s resolution on Ukraine will provide a fair assessment of the suppression of democracy in the country.

"I want to thank the leaders of the European Union and members of the European Parliament that they, using procedures that allow them to examine issues on a priority basis, tomorrow will consider a special resolution on political repression in Ukraine. I saw drafts of these resolutions and believe that they accurately reflect that current situation in Ukraine," Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists today before her hearing at the Kyiv Court of Appeals.

She also thanked the Monitoring Committee and the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe that "after studying my case honestly wrote in their public report that there was no corruption in the cases I stand accused of." "And these are conclusions by international organizations," she stressed.

Yulia Tymoshenko believes that countries that espouse democratic values won’t ignore the actions of the Ukrainian government against the opposition. "I think that countries of the EU and other democratic states won’t close their eyes to the processes of humiliation, liquidation, destruction of rights and freedoms that are taking place in Ukraine. They won’t turn a blind eye to the major corruption by the president and his entourage," she said.
