Ukrainian presidential staff officials will travel in Skoda cars rather than Mercedes to save budget money, the Ukrainian president's press service said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Every hryvnya counts and must be spent on the most necessary things...This will allow us to make save significant savings," the statement said.

The press service did not specify how much money they would save.

Mercedes cars will be used for delegations until they are scrapped.

Ukraine has about six-percent budget deficit. In July 2010, the International Monetary Fund approved a $15.15-billion standby loan for Ukraine to support an economic adjustment and reform program.
