Borys Tarasyuk, vice prime minister and foreign minister in the
opposition government, plans to submit a deputy request to the Ukrainian
defense minister for information regarding participation by Russian
troops in military parades to be held in Ukraine on Victory Day.
"Today Defense Minister Yezhel confirmed that Russian troops will participate in the military parades in Ukraine on May 9. This is a violation of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and law, which outlines the terms and conditions under which military units from another country can stay on Ukrainian territory," Borys Tarasyuk said at the meeting of the opposition government, according to Yulia Tymoshenko's official website.
The minister stressed that the opposition demands that the ruling government strictly adhere to the law "On the procedure for admission and conditions of stay of armed forces of other states on the territory of Ukraine" which clearly spells out the procedure for approving access by another country’s military units to Ukrainian territory.
