President Viktor Yanukovych instructed Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, together with the heads of fuel and energy sector of Ukraine, to prepare proposals to reduce the Russian gas prices, according to the presidential press-service.

The agreements stipulating that Ukraine and Russia will return in the near future to considering issues relating to the gas contracts, were reached by the presidents of the two countries during their Easter meeting in Moscow.

Moreover, Yanukovych is going to discuss gas issues with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev during a visit to Kazakhstan, which is scheduled for April 7.

"We will be looking for allies and cooperating with Russian partners with concrete proposals," the Ukrainian President stressed.

Under the agreements concluded by Yulia Tymoshenko and Vladimir Putin in January 2009, the price of gas for our country is changing on a quarterly basis and is determined depending on oil prices over the past 9 months.
