Financial results of 2009 of the Naftogaz of Ukraine company will not be negative. Such assurance was expressed by the First Deputy Head of Board of the Naftogaz of Ukraine Ihor Didenko during a press conference in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, government portal informed.
According to him, under the signed agreements for supplies of the Russian gas to Ukraine, 2009 envisages purchase of 40 billion cubic metres of gas. But the very contracts contain a possibility of buying 20% less than the amount. “We can purchase 32 billion cubic metres of gas. Today we are discussing the need to buy 33 billion cubic metres of gas,” he said and added an issue on the agenda today is “in which quarter we are to buy and what amounts of gas we are to buy as the price rate is moving in a downright direction every quarter”.
Ihor Didenko also explained, despite reduction of transit of the Russian gas and facing absence of due earnings, the Naftogaz of Ukraine will not afford negative balance in 2009 as “it is compensated by maneuvering of amounts of gas we are buying in the first, second, third and fourth quarters”.
Moreover, First Deputy Head of Board of the Naftogaz of Ukraine Ihor Didenko informed in case the draft law on making changes to the State Budget of 2009 with regards to balancing of the financial state of the company hasn’t been approved by the Verkhovna Rada, the Naftogaz of Ukraine will act on the basis of the financial plan endorsed by the Government. “If there isn’t a final decision in the Verkhovna Rada concerning this narrow issue we will seek for a possibility to draw resources from the special funds together with the Finance Ministry to receive compensation for variation of prices which was approved by the Government,” Ihor Didenko explained.
