Ukraine intends to enlarge the number of peacekeepers in Afghanistan from 3 to 8, Ukraine's Defense Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov told reporters in Bucharest. Cabinet's press office reports.
According to him, another 5 peacekeepers will serve in the Swedish legion.
Yekhanurov also said he discussed the issue April 3 with the Swedish Defense Minister.
On March 28, President Viktor Yushchenko empowered Head of the Ukrainian Mission to NATO to sign (in the letter exchange format) an agreement with NATO on Ukraine's participation in the operation of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
