Decision concerning Ukraine’s joining Membership Action Plan must be taken by people of Ukraine at the referendum. People’s deputy from the Party of Regions Nestor Shufrych told journalists, ForUm’s correspondent reports.
Shufrych emphasizes that about 70% citizens of Ukraine don’t apprehend attempts of some politicians “to pull Ukraine in to NATO”.
The People’s deputy notes that corresponding letter to the Secretary General of NATO has aroused confrontations in the parliament. “We will not stop, until the procedure of Ukraine’s joining NATO is finished,” Shufrych said.
Commenting on the statement of NSDC secretary Raisa Bohatyryova that letter to the NATO secretary is nothing in common with the joining alliance, the parliamentarian has said that Bohatyryova “must better examine documents and procedure on joining NATO”.
Shufrych reminds that this procedures starts with such letter, from the letter of the state’s leadership to the NATO secretary concerning the desire to join the Membership Action Plan.
