President Viktor Yushchenko held a meeting on transport problems in Kyiv. Among participants of the meeting were Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Chairman of the Kyiv Regional State Administration Vira Ulyanchenko, Kyiv Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky, Transport and Communications Minister Iosyp Vinskyi, Finance Minister Viktor Pynzenyk. President's press office reports.

President stressed that current condition of automobile transport movement on Kyiv streets require urgent measures to enhance traffic flow. According to sources daily traffic on Kyiv streets estimates at 400 thousand cars and this number is growing yearly by 60 thousand. Additionally, inadequate condition of capital’s roads aggravates the situation with traffic jams and ecology within the city.

Therefore Viktor Yushchenko assigned responsible bodies to build necessary roads, road junctions, take care of greenery planting and bring transit transport out of the city by means of completing building circuit road around Kyiv.

Regarding Kyiv circuit road President added that it is a question of national priority because it is a part of future Euro-2012 infrastructure. For this reason he urged all relevant authorities to unite their efforts on the subject and prepare a clear-cut schedule in order to build circuit road around Kyiv in 40 month.

During the separate meeting between President Viktor Yushchenko and Kyiv Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky Kyiv issues were discussed more in-depth.

Officials discussed preparation measures to Euro-2012 particularly building a new stadium in Kyiv Darnytskyi district.

Also, the President and the Mayor discussed city budget, current state of construction works at the new bridge across Dnieper, as well as cultural projects such as establishing Memorial complex honoring Holodomor victims and a monument to Gongadze. In the result of the meeting Kyiv authorities received a number of instructions from President.
