The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine will do all possible in order the agreement on visa regime simplification between Ukraine and the EU to be brought for ratification in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as soon as possible. Head of the press service of the Foreign Ministry Andriy Deshchytsa said at a briefing on Tuesday.
Deshchytsa has reminded that the Foreign Ministry hopes that the agreement will come into force form January 1, 2008. But according to him, everything will depend on how soon the VRU starts its work.
According to Deshchytsa, this agreement foresees mechanisms of visa simplification; in particular, the term of documents consideration, submitted by the Ukrainian citizens for visa acquisition will be shortened up to 10 days.
He has also reminded that it is expected that the EU will ratify and implement the agreement at the same period of time as it will be done by the Ukrainian side.
As earlier reported, the agreement on visa regime simplification between Ukraine and the EU was signed in Luxemburg on June 18, 2007.
