The Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports is going to announce the next year of 2008 a year of national adoption, Minister Viktor Korzh said during all-Ukrainian deliberations into "Reformation of the system of establishments for orphan children and children, who are deprived of parental care", Cabinet press office reported.
He presented the program of reforming orphan-houses, which was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on October 17, 2007.
The program has been drafted for ten years and provides for promoting national adoption. Among the program's priorities there are creating conditions for preventing cases of children's withdrawal from families and rejection of newborns. The program provides for extension of the practice of raising children in family-type children's homes. The program will support families with children, control unfortunate families, protect property rights of orphaned children and take care of them until they reach full age.
