Reconstruction of the Ukrainian part Kyiv-Moscow highway will be completed in 2007, deputy chairman Yevhen Protsenko of the State Road Administration told journalists, “Cabinet press office” informs.
It is expected to reconstruct 95 km. of the highway altogether, which lies through the Chernihiv region territory and 95 km. through the Sumy region, Protsenko pointed out. Reconstruction of 52 km. of the road running through Kyiv region has been accomplished in 2006.
The reconstruction project provides for extending of a carriageway up to 9 meters, that is the road is classified as "2-class advanced highway". The project's financing will be based on attraction of credit funds under state guarantees.
The motorway construction between the two capitals was first proposed in 2005. And the parties agreed on the road building on equal footing; so, Ukraine took upon itself construction of a ramification from Kyiv to Russia boundary, and the rest should be built by Russia.
