First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Mykola Azarov met with a member of Observing Council of Austria Kreditanshtalt bank, a member of Executive Council of UniCredit group Willi Hemetzberger and Austrian Chancellor Advisor, Leopold Specht, “Cabinet press office” informed.
Austrian financial experts emphasized that nowadays international stock markets positively access prospects of development of Ukrainian economics and growing of its home markets, in particular market of capitals.
Uni Credit group possesses a rich experience of creation of privatization strategies for the Western European countries, has provided expert and consultative activity for the governments of East European countries in the processes of privatization and stock market development.
Mr. Hemetzberger stated his readiness to establish inter-governmental conferences targeting exchange with top-successful privatization experience and conduct consultations for the Ukrainian Government concerning privatization of the strategically important investment objects.
Mykola Azarov stressed that the Government of Ukraine had defined a very large-scale and complicated privatization program. For now order of privatization of such giants as Ukrtelecom, Odessa port plant are under consideration. There are different approaches starting from sales of control stock ending with the realization of attractive minority stakes which will be the proof of market capitalization of the strategic enterprises. At this, the Government sets the task at a balanced way: at the expense of sale not only to enrich the state treasury but to attract strategic industrial investors having the ability to deeply modernize certain branches. With this view the successful experience of other countries, expert consultations of processes appear especially valuable for Ukraine.
Austrian experts hail such rationally weighed approach of the Government and emphasize that the most successful for the Western European countries proved to be the model of sales of minority stakes at the stock market with the simultaneous modernizing of management and technologies owing to new co-owners.
The sides to the meeting have agreed to proceed consultations and working out the cooperation model in the process of realization of privatization programs in Ukraine for the near future.
