Russia will voice its attitude towards Ukraine’s accession into NATO after the population has expressed its opinion on this issue at a referendum. Defense Minister of Russia Sergey Ivanov told Thursday in Kyiv.

“The point isn’t that Russia treats warmly or coldly Ukraine’s possible accession into NATO. That is the matter of the Ukrainian people. You are independent stated, and Russia has nothing to do with it,” Ivanov said.

“From the other hand, we hear public declaration of politicians on that this issue will be considered by means of a referendum. When the results are ready, we will see then,” the minister added.

At the same time Ivanov underlined that “consequences of this move will influence cooperation between the two countries, at least in military-industrial complex.”
