Victor Yushchenko met with Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski for talks in Kyiv, president's press office reported.

They spoke about European and regional issues, especially how to build closer economic ties between Ukraine and Poland.

The President expressed hopes a recent meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, which had been held on November 13-14, would enable the two countries boost bilateral trade and implement joint projects.

Yushchenko said energy cooperation was one of the most beneficial areas.

He said the construction of a section of the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline to the Polish city of Plock was an "obvious priority" of cooperation between Ukraine, Poland and the European Union.

They also discussed a number of other projects.

Kaczynski said Poland supported Ukraine’s EU aspirations and was ready to initiate talks to sign a new enhanced agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

They also agreed to coordinate their efforts to make sure that Ukraine and Poland win the bid to host the Euro 2012 finals.
