This morning Victor Yushchenko met with Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Petras Vaitiekunas, President's press office reported.

They spoke about bilateral relations, energy and economic issues, and Ukraine’s EU prospects.  Vaitiekunas assured the President his country supported our Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

“They are consistent with our interests and Europe’s interests,” he said.

Yushchenko and Vaitiekunas agreed to develop the political dialogue between Ukraine and Lithuania, particularly by reinforcing parliamentary and presidential cooperation. 

The Head of State praised Lithuania’s parliament for recognizing the Holodmor as genocide.

He also invited his colleague, Valdas Adamkus, to Ukraine.
