PM Yanukovich states his readiness to consolidate the efforts aimed at European integration of Ukraine since the society back this idea. He has revealed it Thursday at a press conference after the working breakfast with EU Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy Ferrero-Waldner.
“All what Ukraine performs heading toward the EU receives powerful backing from the society,” said PM Yanukovich.
Regarding the issues related to Ukraine’s accession to NATO, PM Yanukovich stressed the minor number of NATO supporters (12-25%) and qualified the issue as non-pressing one. He proposed to treat it as an aspect of wide cooperation at this stage of affairs.
Responding to the question about European prospects for Ukraine Mrs Ferrero-Waldner, in her turn, stated that the European Neighbourhood Policy is aimed at bridging close relations with Ukraine.
“I cannot say anything concerning the membership prospects. Let’s wait and see,” concluded EU Commissioner.
