The government plans to take the necessary measures in 2007 to ensure that the country achieves a trade surplus of about $160 million, a 12% increase in exports, and about 3% in imports, Economy Minister Volodymyr Makukha announced after a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.

According to him, the government aims to achieve this goal by supporting Ukrainian exporters, reducing of imports, assisting Ukrainian exporters to access foreign markets, particularly the European Union market, and accelerating trade relations with Ukraine's main trading partners, the Cabinet press office informed.

He expressed regret at the fact that antidumping measures worth about $ 200 million are being taken against Ukrainian manufacturers on the European Union market and that there are pans to take additional measures worth about $400 million.
