Kateryna Yushchenko spoke atareception held in honor of participantsof the 31st Session of the General Assembly of the International Council of Women (ICW).
 
In her speech, Mrs. Yushchenko thanked ICW for accepting Ukraine as its member before our country declared independence and also for condemning last century’s genocide famines in Ukraine.

The President’s wife said she hoped the ladies had all enjoyed their stay in Kyiv and would wish to come to our country again with their families, the President press office informs. 

Anama Tan, ICW President, Iryna Holubeva, President of the National Council of Women, Tetyana Kondratyuk, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Iryna Synivska, Head of the Zhytomyr Oblast Council, members of parliament, activists of Ukrainian women’s movement and delegates from 38 countries attended the event.

Founded in 1888, the International Council of Women is the world’s oldest non-governmental organisation. The National Council of Women, which consists of twenty-two women’s organizations, has been its member since 2000.

The National Council of Women worksto improve the role and status of Ukrainian women, prevent human trafficking, help violence victims, build international contacts and promote Ukrainian culture and charitable giving.
