Some of the SBU State Archive documents linked with the KGB USSR participation in liquidation of Chornobyl disaster were declassified, SBU Chief Ihor Dryzhchany told Tuesday.

“These documents reveal the real role of KGB officers in the liquidation, operative escort of the process and probably the events which had preceded the disaster,” said Dryzhchany.

SBU lifts the stamp “classified” form the Diagram of Kyiv Radioactive Background April 30-May 2, 1986, Assistance-Station Master V. Tadli’s Report on Mi-8 crash within the zone of the unit #4, the Reference of 6th KGB USSR Department on Forests within the 30-km zone around the Chornobyl nuclear plant of October 9, 1986 and others.
