Leader of Party of Regions Victor Yanukovich declares that the yesterday’s meeting with President was held at Yushchenko’s request, as reported in Party press office.

“As for the meeting with President of Ukraine, held at his request, once again I pointed to necessity to follow the agreements of the signed Declaration for Unity and Cooperation For the Sake of the Future which touch upon our demands to stop political repressions and persecution of opposition representatives, to introduce political reform and to turn the presidential-parliamentary form of government into parliamentary-presidential one,” said Yanukovich.

As for the formation of the new government, Yanukovich considers coalition government can be formed after immediate introduction of political reform and for period of transition till parliamentary elections.

According to him, after elections it will be possible to form stable government, which will account together with the Parliament before the people and President.

Besides, yesterday Victor Yanukovich met with VR Chairman Vladimir Litvin and former PM Yulia Timoshenko. They discussed the appointment of the new PM.

“It does not matter for us, who will be the Prime Minister. We would vote for Yekhanurov, but only after introduction of political reform. And of course we will not take part in this transitional government,” said Yanukovich.

Note: As reported on the President’s site, Victor Yushchenko met with Leader of the Party of Regions Victor Yanukovich at Yanukovich’s request. President regards it as a continuation of the Declaration for Unity and Cooperation For the Sake of the Future.
