Ukraine came to an agreement about stoppage of import of electricity
from Russia after December 1, 2008, according to the Deputy Minister of
Fuel and Energy Volodymyr Lychnikov.
"After December 1 no import will be executed," he told. such decision was explained with surplus of electricity in the country and necessity of full charge of Ukrainian facility.
Ukraine has imported Russian energy for $44 million since the middle of September, according to the Ministry of Fuel and Energy. They received within this period 637.5 million units of electricity. Import of electricity was not executed in 2007.
