The cabinet has resolved to send to the Verkhovna Rada for review the draft Law of Ukraine "On ratification of Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on air traffic." The agreement was signed in 2011, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.
Government experts say the agreement creates a legal basis for regular air transportation between Ukraine and the UAE. In particular, the document sets out the procedure for regulation of international flights, envisions mutual recognition of crew member certificates and determines conditions for issuing and withdrawing airline permits for scheduled flights. Also, it enables carriers to enter into commercial transportation agreements, including with third party airlines.
Oleksandr Vilkul, Acting Deputy Prime Minister, noted that the government is pursuing a consistent policy in terms of development of the national air transportation market, attracting the best foreign airlines, entering in partnerships with foreign countries.
"The agreement between Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates will promote strengthening of the tourist and business contacts between our countries, as well as strengthening of the logistics potential of Ukraine. In fact, increasing the number of flights between the Boryspil airport and Dubai, the largest Middle Eastern hub, will help create new air flights between Europe and Asia," he said.
