From Feb. 5 to 14 Ukraine is conducting an experiment in simplified border crossing with the European Union at checkpoints "Rawa-Russkaya", in the Lviv region, "Uzhgorod" and "Solotvino" in Transcarpathia, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.
During the experiment a single stop approach is used. There is also a single window for the "green corridor" on the exit from Ukraine. This aproach is introduced in order to achieve European standards in border crossing operations to ensure border security, expedited clearance, higher service culture and to create comfortable environment for people crossing the border. The experiment involves the State Border Service and Customs Service.
Experts note that the experiment envisions a single stop for passport control, where the driver and passengers won’t have to leave the vehicle. Also the personal identifications and vehicle registrations will be checked by both customs and border guard officers. There will be a visual inspection of the vehicle, which might be pulled out from the general traffic for the in-depth inspection, as required.
