The traffic police does not detain cars, delivering food and petrol to Maidan, head of the Kyiv traffic police department Anatoly Kurennoy told journalists after the protest action in front of the department.
"I underline once again, traffic police officers work within the active legislation, and no cases of detaining cars delivering petrol or wheels, have been registered. I told protesters and MPs that their accusations were groundless," he said.
Moreover, the department does not have any information about detention of cars, delivering food and firewood to Maidan.
Kurennoy also refuted accusations of knowing in advance or spreading information about 23 burnt cars, registered in western regions of Ukraine.
The official pointed out that police officers detain only those drivers, who violate the law or traffic regulations, regardless of where they go, to Maidan or somewhere else.
To prove the point Kurennoy has given protesting deputies a phone number of his aide to report any cases of power abuse by traffic police officers against protesters.
