Agricultural market analysts say that despite the severe political crisis and resulting difficulties with managing the agricultural complex of the country, Ukraine continues to increase grain exports, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.
Thus, according to the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, since the beginning of 2013/2014 Marketing Year (MY, July 2013 - June 2014), as of Jan. 27, 20.9 million tons of grain were supplied to foreign markets, which is up 33.5% YOY.
The main export crop is still maize. It accounted for the largest share of grain exports - 11.7 million tons. As of Jan. 27 wheat exports reached 6.950 million tons, of which 5.63 million tons are food wheat and 1.33 million tons – fodder wheat. Some 27, 2.07 million tons of barley were exported by the same date.
In addition to grain, exports of oilseeds have been are on the rise, as well. Since the beginning of the current MY (September 2013 to August 2014), exports of these crops have reached 2.8 million tons, including rapeseed – 2 million tons, soybeans - 0.8 million tons.
In this regard, analysts note that in accordance with the State Statistics, in 2013 the grain yield reached almost 63 million tons, which is up 36.3% YOY. The average yield was 40.4 hundredweight / hectare.
Experts of Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food believe that grain exports from Ukraine will total 33 million tons in 2013/2014 MY. This can be an absolute record for Ukraine, since independence.
