Arrears of wages significantly decreased in Ukraine in 2013, first deputy chairman of the State Statistics Service Vadym Pyshcheiko told the briefing "Social and economic state of Ukraine following 2013", a ForUm's correspondent reports.
"The arrears of wages keep decreasing, and it is a good factor. Though the amount of arrears remains big, a reducing trend is observed," Pyshcheiko said.
According to him, the biggest negative factor is that more than 50% of arrears accrue to economically active enterprises, behindhand with salaries to personnel.
According to the press office of the State Statistics Service, the total amount of arrears of wages made 808.2 million hryvnias as of January 1, 2014, which is 9.6% less that at the beginning of 2013.
