The unemployment rate in Ukraine is lower than in the European Union countries, first deputy head of the State Statistics Service Vadym Pishcheiko said during a briefing "Socioeconomic situation in Ukraine on the results of 2013," ForUm correspondent reports.

"The labor market situation is good. Despite the fact that the whole situation in the economy is difficult, the unemployment rate is still around 7%. This is small figure. The European Union has more than 10%. That is, in fact, Ukraine has a certain economic security," Pishcheiko said.

The press service of the State Statistics Service also noted that for nine months of 2013 the unemployment rate among the economically active population in the age from 15 to 70 years amounted to 7%, while among the working-age population - 7.6%.
