Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has resigned. The corresponding statement is published at the government portal.
"The conflict situation in the country jeopardizes economic and social development of Ukraine, poses a threat to the entire Ukrainian society and every citizen," the statement says.
According to Azarov, the government has done everything to peacefully settle the conflict during the confrontation.
"We have done and are doing everything to prevent bloodshed, escalation of violence, violations of human rights. Government has provided the functioning of the economy and social security system under extreme conditions," he notes.
