Ukrainian authorities are ready to discuss the content of the laws adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on January 16 with the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov stated this at a meeting with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland in Davos, Cabinet’s press service informs.
The PM said that today authorities are dealing not with peaceful protests, but with a well-organized, planned operation on seizing power. However, even in such circumstances, the power is determined to a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Head of Government noted that the strategic course of Ukraine towards European integration remains unchanged.
In this regard, Azarov expressed readiness to discuss all questions regarding new norms of the Ukrainian legislation with the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission.
