President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych called on the opposition to sit at negotiating table and stop confrontation, reads the address of the President on latest events in Kyiv, posted on the website of the President.
"I express my great regret at the loss of lives in the conflict provoked by extremists from politics. I offer my sincere condolences to the families of the bereaved. Once again I ask people not to respond to calls of political radicals. It’s still not too late to stop and settle the conflict peacefully. Once again I urge the opposition to sit at the negotiating table and stop the confrontation," the statement reads.
Yanukovych stressed that he stands "against bloodshed and use of force, against incitement and violence."
"I ask people to come back to their homes. We must restore peace and stability in Ukraine," President’s address says.
