The State Statistics Service has released a preliminary industry performance update for 2013.
According to the State Statistics, industrial production grew in December 2013 compared with November. Industrial production index was 100.1%, Germany, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

Experts say in December the positive results were achieved due to the mining industry, as well as due to supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air. In mining, the output remained at the level of November 2013 and reached 107% from December 2012. The supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air in December 2013 grew by 13.9% from November. At the same time, it fell by 1.3% YOY.

In the mining industry,  growth was demonstrated by metal ore extraction (102.9% from November, and 109.9% from December 2012), crude oil and natural gas (102.5% from November and 99.3% from December 2012).

The ambiguous dynamics remain unchanged in the processing industry. Overall, the processing industry fell by 7.7% in 2013. The processing index was 96.9% in December compared with November 2013.

At the same time, "machine building except repair and installation of machinery and equipment" grew by 6.5% in December compared with the previous month.

Manufacturing of "furniture and other products” grew by 17.3% in December. 
The greatest fall was taken by production  of "food, beverages and tobacco products" in December.  It fell by 12.2%. Analysts say, it is due to a wish of wholesalers to reduce inventory of ready foods pending the reduced  consumption in January.
