The State Agricultural Inspectorate of Ukraine has identified laboratories which are appropriately certified to test for grain quality, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reports.

The National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine has identified 104 laboratories, both private and public, of which 83 are certified to test grain for GMO.
The department note that test results from these labs are included in the grain quality certificates to be issued by the State Agricultural Inspectorate.

The government raised the need to open a network of grain quality laboratories in the summer of 2013. This issue was resolved today and this will help establish supervision over GMO and derived products. Last year the agricultural producers tested their products at the specialized labs in Crimea, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Poltava regions.

In accordance with the Law "On grain and grain market in Ukraine," a certificate of grain and its products quality is issued by territorial authorities of the State Agricultural Inspectorate and falls under administrative services, whose proceeds go to the State Budget. It includes a reliable, objective review of the grain product quality and states its compliance with the state standards, at the same time it does not permit shipment of sub-standard and poor quality grain.
