Already at the year beginning Ukraine has a possibility to sign the Association agreement with the EU, providing that a consensus between the parties is found, European Parliament' deputy Simitar Stoyanov told in a comment to BTB channel.

"If Ukraine and the EU reach a consensus on all urgent issues, I do not see any obstacles for the Association agreement to be signed this year, in particular at the beginning of the year," he said.

At the same time, the politician pointed out that the conditions of the deal require thorough reflection and welcomed the position of Ukraine and its cold-minded approach to the issue. In this respect he exemplified Bulgaria, which, according to him, lost its positions due to hasty decision on joining the EU.

"Many of our agreements with the EU were discussed and concluded in haste, and as a result, the consequences of such hasty work are not very positive for Bulgarian people. As you know, Western countries now try to introduce restrictions on travel by Bulgarians within the EU. On the other hand, Bulgarians have certain problems with following the EU standards, provided by the agreement," he added.

"I welcome Ukraine's decision to develop relations with the EU slowly, considering the subject deeply. Such approach would be better for both parties in order to avoid any misunderstandings and problems in future relations," the EP deputy summed up.
