During 2013 almost 5.2 million passengers, i.e. 8.5% of the total passenger traffic, booked tickets online, whereas 2.1 million persons used this service in 2012. In fact,  336,500 tickets have been booked online for just 12 days in January 2013, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

Ukrainians are increasingly using the Internet to purchase various goods and services. Railroad transportation is no exception. The number of passengers booking train tickets online is rapidly growing.

More than 8.2 million tickets have been bought online since the inception of online ticket booking, from 2008 to January 12, 2014. The service popularity growth trend has been observed from year to year, 83,500 tickets were booked online in 2009,   132,500 tickets in 2010, 693,900 tickets in 2011,  2.1 million tickets in 2012, and 5.2 million tickets in 2013.

Experts say the new system will save about 20 million UAH for UZ.

Also, the electronic ticketing has been growing. Since the introduction of online services, 395,500 electronic tickets have been sold through official site "Ukrainian Railroads” (booking.uz.gov.ua). With self-printed e-tickets, passengers can proceed directly to boarding the train. Today, you can buy electronic tickets for 158 trains in different directions.
