Preparatory works for a new modern regional perinatal center have been completed in the Kherson region. The project has been approved by the Ministry of Health. The MOH has also developed a package of medical and technical documents, and the Kherson Regional State Administration has started a tender for reconstruction of the existing facilities, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.
A promising medical facility like that is being built pursuant to the National Project "New life - New quality of maternal and child health," launched in accordance with the President Yanukovych’s Decree "On measures to identify and implement projects in priority areas of socio-economic and cultural development."
The approved project envisages building of a perinatal center facility to the best international practice in construction of medical facilities. The wards and infrastructure will meet international standards ISO. Special attention will also be paid to necessary conditions for pregnant women with various complications, as well as for infants weighing from 500 g.
MOH experts say the new institution will annually receive 2,500 pregnant women with complicated extragenital pathology. The high quality of perinatal care will help reduce maternal and infant mortality by 10-15%.
