Priority registration of .UKR domain reaches final stage

On Jan. 4, 2014 the final fifth stage of the priority registration of website names in the top level domain .UKR begun in Ukraine and will last one month. Accordingly, the registration of domain names in the Ukrainian segment will be open and accessible for anyone from February 2014. This was announced by Vladimir Seminozhenko, Chairman of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Information, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

At this stage, priority registration is open for domain names in the .UKR segment which are formed on the basis of names and surnames, creative aliases of the well-known in Ukraine figures of culture, science, education, art, literature, religion, politics, economy and sports. Also, information about them should be included in encyclopedias, reference books, dictionaries, directories, or be widespread in the Ukrainian media.

Experts say the fifth stage also continues registration of domain names on the basis of criteria defined at the previous stages. For example, such names may include: corporate (commercial) names of businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as trademarks. You can also register geographical origin of goods, geographical names and regions in Ukraine, names of countries (states) of the world and interstate formations, names of international organizations, names of government bodies and local authorities and others. Domain names may only be registered by accredited registers.

At the end of the priority registration period, domain registration for a minimum period of 10 years will be accessible for anyone during the first two months. Registration in the Ukrainian national Cyrillic domain will cost no more than 250 UAH.
