President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych hopes that Greece, which took over EU chairmanship on January 1, will promote concluding the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. This was said in Yanukovych’s congratulatory message to President of Greece Karolos Papoulias on the occasion of Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
"I hope for contribution of Greece to the further development of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU aimed at the conclusion and effective implementation of the Association Agreement. I look forward to continuation of our personal dialogue on all relevant issues during your state visit to Ukraine," Yanukovych said.
He also thanked Papoulias and Greek people for friendly and consistent support that Ukraine feels in the process of European integration.
"I wish your government to fully implement the priorities of the presidency, aimed in particular at ensuring economic growth and financial stability of the European Union. I believe that in this important status Greece will also made important contribution to the strengthening and deepening of the EU's relations with partner countries, primarily – with the "Eastern Partnership" participants," Yanukovych summed up.
