President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych instructed Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to ensure funding of the reconstruction of Taras Shevchenko National Museum. The respective instruction has been given on Thursday in the course of the session of the Council of Regions, the press service of the President reports.

2014 will become a year of celebrating the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko's birthday. In the framework of preparations to the given event, large-scale reconstruction is held in Taras Shevchenko National Museum and its affiliates in Kyiv.

The instruction has been signed because there was a risk of disruption of the work schedule. Earlier, the opposition has disrupted the session of Kyiv City Council in the course of which the issue of the city budget, particularly funding of the museum reconstruction, was to be considered. Given the situation, the Museum personnel addressed the President with a request to prevent the pause in reconstruction.

Government officials have repeatedly emphasized that people would be able to visit the reconstructed museum already in March. The museum will meet all modern standards. All measures, including the international ones, are planned under the Decree of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych №257/2012 "On Additional Measures on Preparation and Celebration of the 200thAnniversary of Taras Shevchenko's Birthday" of April 11, 2012.
