Executive authorities will be accountable to public

Implementation of the Strategy of State Policy promoting the development of civil society in Ukraine will be controlled by public institutions and organizations. Procedure for planning and monitoring implementation activities has been approved by the Cabinet, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

The Cabinet on Dec. 25, 2013 approved the Procedure for planning and monitoring of implementation by the executive bodies of the State Strategy promoting development of civil society in Ukraine. Thereby, the government introduces the Action Plan on implementing the Strategy in 2013 (approved by President of Ukraine on June 25, 2013).

Now, in addition for just publishing the annual Action Plan to implement the Strategy, which is a basis for establishing democratic community in the state, the executive bodies will also have to provide a progress report.

According to the Procedure, all these actions will be taken with involvement of public.

According to government experts, the Procedure contributes to better public control over activities performed and initiated by executive bodies. This demonstrates a pro-European orientation for development of civil society institution in Ukraine, including that in the field of local self-organization and self-management.
