Gas tariffs for the population will not change, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said, while opening a session of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Gas tariffs for the population will remain stable. When we speak about reduction of the price for gas and heat for the population, then it should occur on the basis of increase of efficiency of heat production, reduction of the cost for its transportation and introduction of measures on energy efficiency," he said.
The Prime Minister stressed that the tariffs for gas and heat have not been increased since July of 2010 and large part of their cost is subsidized by the state. Therefore, tariffs for the population will remain stable," he concluded.
