Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services has developed 25 feasibility studies for projects of further reformation of the housing and communal services sector. In particular, it includes introduction of energy saving technologies in water supply and sanitation, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers informs.

According to the head of the Ministry Gennady Temnik, the total project cost is 22.3 billion UAH. Also, 180 projects worth 6.3 billion UAH were developed by city councils. Of them, 53 projects with a total sale value of 3.1 billion UAH have already been sent for review to banks potential lenders.

The Ministry also reported that in 2013, 915 million UAH have been appropriated for development and modernization of water supply and sewerage networks. Most of these funds - 356 million UAH - were allocated from municipal budgets. 219 million UAH were provided by water supply and sanitation enterprises. Another 115 million UAH were allocated from the State Budget. Also, 225 million UAH in the form of credit were provided by the World Bank for "Development of urban infrastructure" project.

Experts say these funds were used to upgrade the pumping equipment,  renovate and repair water and sewer networks, install water purification stations in social facilities, installation of technological water meters.

According to the ministry, in 2013, 1674 pumping units were replaced, 2,200 kilometers of water and sewer networks were renovated and repaired, 70 water purification stations in social facilities were installed, 2,596 water meters were installed.

In total, 24 energy-saving projects and 15 projects to improve water quality have been completed during the year, Temnik said.
