The Ministry of Infrastructure and the Association of International Road Carriers of Ukraine (AIRCU) signed the Action Plan to improve the efficiency of road transport in the field of international trucking in 2014, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reports.

“We managed to do a lot through joint efforts this year. We have achieved an increase in the quota of permits of individual countries and changed the permit issue and registration procedure. There were some issues that we closed. Now the Ministry and AIRCU have identified the objectives that will help make 2014 even a greater success for international carrier,” said Volodymyr Kozak, Minister of Infrastructure.

The Ministry and AIRCU agreed to improve one-time and multi-permit issue procedures of the European Conference of the Ministers of Transport (ECMT) for international trucking in 2014. Thus, the distribution of permits required for road transportation in accordance with the ECMT will be automated in 2014.

The appropriate software has been already developed for that, experts explain. The system will ensure transparency of the ECMT permit issuance procedure. Applications from the carriers to obtain those permits for 2014 were received by the Commission for 20 working days, starting from Nov. 1. At the moment, there are 628 applications from the Ukrainian haulers to compete in distribution of ECMT permits. After the automated distribution, the results will be announced on the official website of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Also, the Ministry of Infrastructure plans to continue talks about a permit-free system for international trucking.
