President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych instructed the government to reduce electricity cost for consumers, the President’s press service informs.
Speaking at the solemn meeting on the occasion of Energy Worker Day and ceremony of launching "Hydraulic unit № 2" of Dniester PSP, Yanukovych said that cheaper electricity will be the basis for further modernization and economic development throughout Ukraine.
According to the President, this was the aim of the talks on reducing the cost of Russian natural gas.
"Now the gas price is 268.5 dollars per thousand cubic meters. This will allow the state to essentially reduce the expenses for electricity and heat," the President said.
