The Verkhovna Rada passed the law on elimination of negative consequences and prevention of the prosecution and punishment of persons regarding the events that occurred during the peaceful assemblies.

As ForUm correspondent reported, 339 MPs supported adoption of this law as a basis and as a whole.

The rapporteur on this issue, MP from the "Batkivshchyna" faction Pavlo Petrenko said that this law is aimed at release of detainees, as well as at avoidance of new arrests.

The law provides for “pardoning participants in the protests and events in the period from 21 November 2013 until the date of entry into force of this Act”.

According to the law, "all criminal and administrative proceedings, opened over the events specified in Section 1 of this Act, shall be closed".

Act enters into force on the day following the day of its publication.
