Decisions concerning Ukraine’s accession to the specific provisions of the Customs Union will be transparent, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said in interview with representatives of Ukrainian media.
The President noted that the work of Ukraine with the Customs Union and the Eurasian Union has never stopped.
"We worked, but we did not have a specific format of this cooperation. And finally, this format has been defined with a special protocol, signed by the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and the CU member states in Minsk. This protocol, relatively speaking, provides us with the status of observer in the Customs Union. The Ukrainian government has access to the CU’s documents, as our government’s representative is working with the commission," the President said.
He noted that Ukraine is a strategic partner of the Customs Union in terms of trade turnover, and interstate cooperation.
